The Fruity Smoothie Bowl Recipe

I have become a bit obsessed with these smoothie bowls but with all respect, it’s such a cool food! Since the first day I stretched out my legs to get some food on the Gold Coast, I have seen that smoothie bowls are a very trendy breakfast option. I mean, everything looks so cool and yummy that it’s very difficult to decide what to order, eggs benedict, salmon salad, the full breakfast and the famous avocado on toast… But guys, Acai bowls are just TOP and you know what? It’s a very good way to get me into fruit. I don’t eat what I should and it’s really bad because most of the days I don’t even achieve 1 of 5 a day fruit portions.

I realised that here, in Australia, having a healthy diet is not only a fashion thing, it’s a lifestyle. And breakfast it’s the most important meal of the day, so let’s get it started right!

Today I wanted to try my own recipe and I loved it, as I have a proper food processor at home I don’t have any excuses now haha! I’m gonna share with you what do you need to create a tasty fruity smoothie. This is HIGH in fibre and protein (if you add the protein powder) and LOW in fats. You are also getting natural sugars so no added sugar is required! If you really like a sweet flavour, use honey or Stevia it will be better for your pancreas 🙂

1 cup frozen riped bananas (diced)

1 cup frozen blueberries (you can use/add any other berries)

100 MLS alternative milk (I used soy milk)

1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla goes well with this one, I used vegan protein powder)

A hint of honey as desired

2 tablespoon of yoghurt (I used coconut yoghurt)

You can use a wide variety: almonds, walnuts, pecan, pistachios, granola, muesli, chia seeds, cereals, basically anything you have!

put all the ingredients for the smoothie bowl in the food processor and blend for 4-5min. Place the frozen fruits first, then add the powder, honey and milk. You can always add more milk depends on how thick you like it. Scoop it into a bowl and top with desired toppings ( I love chia seeds and goji berries).

And this is how mine looks like, I love it purple! It’s the perfect breakfast for a hot day or if you want to surprise someone with a colourful

It’s the perfect breakfast for a hot day or if you want to surprise someone with a colourful brekki in bed 🙂
